ART FESTIVAL on weekend only

Featuring: Crafts, Music, Puppets, and Food on Sat. May 5th
Opening May 5th at the Plowhaus ArtistsCooperative and
Gallery,
"Handworks" is a children's art show consisting
of art projects
produced by Abintra Montessori students
in collaboration with Nashville artists.
Plowhaus artists found inspiration in Abintras mission,
to assist in
the development of the individual child and adolescent by
providing a
quality education based on the Montessori principles and
philosophy.Having recently celebrated their 25th anniversary,
Abintra
continues to be a strong independent Montessori school in
Nashville.
Dr. Maria Montessori developed a pedagogy that addressed the
needs of
the whole child.By integrating art and music into the curriculum,
students are exposed to the arts in a variety of forms.
Abintra has a unique arts program developed by Christine
Orrall.Christine seeks artists who can work within the schools
philosophy while respecting the process of creating art.In
addition,
the program exposes students to work of musicians, actors,
dancers, and
visual artists on campus and in the Nashville community.
Plowhaus artists Beth Seiters, Tiffany Denton, and Kathy Townsend
worked closely with Christine on projects that range from
weaving and
collage to fiber arts and ink painting.Artist Jairo Prado,
who has
worked extensively within the Abintra community, also worked
on
painting and sculpture with the students.
